The Equestrian Center is one of Salamander Middleburg’s most distinctive experiences, celebrating the resort’s deep connection to Virginia horse country. Set across 25 acres dedicated to entry-level equestrian use, the beautifully appointed center features a 14,000-square-foot stable with 22 stalls, nine scenic paddocks and an outdoor riding arena with ThorTurf footing.

COUNTRYSIDE GROUP TRAIL RIDE

Discover the natural beauty of the resort’s countryside aboard one of our gentle trail horses. Led by an experienced guide, this one-hour leisurely ride winds through wooded trails and scenic resort grounds, offering a peaceful way to take in the surrounding landscape.

STONEWALL PRIVATE TRAIL RIDE

Designed for experienced riders or guests seeking a more private experience, the Stonewall Private Trail Ride offers a guided journey through the quiet woods and open fields of Salamander Middleburg. This one-hour ride may be reserved for one or multiple riders.

THE CUPCAKE EXPRESS
225.00+ for 1-2 children | Ages 5 & Up | Weight Limit: 75lbs | 1 Hour
All aboard the sweetest ride in horse country. Guests will learn how to groom and harness Cupcake, our beloved miniature horse, before joining her for a charming country drive in her signature cart. This one-hour experience is designed for one child to accompany an Equestrian Center team member in the cart, with a second child welcome to participate in the grooming and preparation portion.
RIDING LESSON

Enjoy personalized instruction aboard one of our seasoned lesson ponies. Each session includes grooming, an introduction to horse safety, tacking and riding in our outdoor arena. Winter lessons are offered at a walking pace only, weather permitting.
HORSES 101

A private, family-friendly introduction to the world of horses. Guests will learn the basics of petting, grooming, horse care and safety while spending time with one of our gentle horses and a dedicated Equestrian Center team member. This hands-on stable experience offers a wonderful opportunity for photos and a meaningful connection to horse country.
PONY PARTY
360.00+ per pony | Ages 2-10 | 5 children maximum per pony | 1 hour
Celebrate with a one-hour pony experience on the front lawn of the Stable or in the Arena. Guests may reserve one to four ponies or horses with dedicated leaders for pony rides, enjoy a meet-and-greet with Cupcake, feed the ponies carrots and treats and gather for a group photo opportunity.
Each child will receive a keepsake photo of the pony they ride or Cupcake. A parent or guardian is required to sign a waiver before riding and must side-walk with their child during the ride. Children may ride multiple times as time allows.
PONY RIDE

Create a cherished horse country memory as your little one enjoys a 10-minute ride on one of our adorable ponies. A parent or guardian is required to side-walk with the child.
ESSENTIAL HORSEMANSHIP

Ideal for beginners or those looking to build upon their equestrian skills, this unmounted stable experience may include grooming, handling techniques, braiding, bandaging, tacking in English or Western style and other foundational horsemanship skills. Group rates are available.
PAINT-A-PONY
175.00+ per person | Ages 5 & up
Learn about equine coat colors, markings and breeds before painting your own model horse inspired by one of Salamander’s horses or your dream horse. This creative stable experience also includes a short pony ride.
A 25% service charge is added to all equestrian activities. Additional gratuities may be added at your discretion.

Overnight Stabling
Your equine companion will enjoy attentive Five-Star care from the professional and experienced team at the Salamander Middleburg Equestrian Center. Whether visiting for leisure, competitions, local hunts or a countryside escape, overnight boarders enjoy the convenience of full-service care just minutes from area show grounds and surrounded by 340 acres of resort property and trails.
